Who is Dr. Shah Ahmad?
Shah Ahmad MD, MPH is a neurosurgeon, dual-trained in both Orthopedic and Neurosurgical spine, and is a member of the Indiana Spine Group. His expertise is in the management of degenerative diseases of the cervical and lumbar spine through minimally-invasive techniques, as well as deformity surgery and spinal cord tumors.
Dr. Ahmad attended Cornell University, obtaining degrees in neuroscience and business. He then attended the University of Arizona for his MD degree as well as his Masters of Public Health. From there he went on to complete a seven-year Neurosurgery residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, one of the top training programs for complex and minimally-invasive spine surgery. He then completed a sub-specialized fellowship in Orthopedic Spine Surgery under Dr. Rick Sasso at the Indiana Spine Group.
Dr. Ahmad’s research interests are peri-operative pain management and clinical outcomes for patients undergoing different types of open and minimally-invasive spine procedures. He has published over 25 articles in some of the most impactful international journals in spine and cranial surgery, as well as authored textbook chapters in a number of neurosurgery textbooks, such Youmans Neurological Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
